Site Management Tutorial

If you’ve just received your site (unique or pre-made), there are a few simple steps you’ll need to take to activate your Admin area.

* Upload everthing to your hosting account. There might be a warning that the cgi-bin folder already exists. We want the file setpermissions.sh placed into the existing cgi-bin folder.

* Change the permissions of cgi-bin/setpermissions.sh to 755 to make it executable.

* Load http://yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/setpermissons.sh in a browser to set the permissions of files and folders that need to be writeable for the PHP scripts of the admin area. This assumes that the site is placed in the main folder of an add-on domain or a subdomain. If it is placed in a subfolder the setpermissions.sh script would need to be placed in the real cgi-bin folder and edited to reflect the correct path in the variable MAINDIR.

After that you should be able to load http://yourdomain.com/admin/ without any error messages about permissions.

This is the first screen you’ll see when accessing your site admin screen which is located at http://yourdomain.com/admin

The first username & password you enter will become the login info you’ll use every time you login after that.

For your convenience, you can always change your login information using the form above. Enter your new username & password and save it.

The contact page is where you can specify how your visitors can contact you via mail, email, phone, etc.
